Liberty Chambers: Freshers’ oratory contest and essay competition (UNILORIN)
Liberty Chambers. Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin, hereby announces its annual freshers' oratory contest and essay competition for the 2015 /2016 academic session. The competitions are designed to help new law students hone their skills in writing and public speaking.
••The theme for this year's programme is:
"THE ROLES OF LAWMAKERS,LEGAL PRACTITIONERS AND CITIZEN VIS A VIS THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF NIGERIAN
DEMOCRACY"
•••••Oratory contest•••••
This is scheduled to take place on Monday (14th) and Tuesday (15th) for the preliminaries and final respectively.
••The topic for the preliminaries is:
"The role of citizens in winning Nigeria's fight against corruption."
Speakers will be expected to speak for a maximum of 5 minutes, after which they will be graded on appearance, content, delivery, grammatical accuracy etc.
Contestants who make it to the finals will be expected to speak on an
impromptu topic drawn from the theme.
••••••Essay contest••••••
Entrants are expected to write an essay of 1000 words maximum on the topic:
"THE BAR AND THE BENCH; THE ROLES OF LEGAL PRACTITIONERS IN
NIGERIAN DEMOCRACY ".
Entries should be sent to libertychamber001@gmail.com before 12 noon on Friday (18th). Announcement and presentation of prizes to the winner(s) will take place on Saturday (19th) at the Chambers' get-together for freshers.
Note: Both the oratory and essay contests are open to all freshers in the faculty of law, regardless of chambers affiliations.
