The entire village called her a prostitute for eloping with a stranger. The young lady had so much at hand. She was devasted by everything that was going on. The punishment for such was terrible. The man who was going to marry Chibuye would not pay any bride price. He was to bring a bone of a dead hyena, black goat and a dog's tail. That was going to be used to cleanse her then marry her.
Her father rebuked her saying he can't give birth to such a child. Her mother was by her side, she surely knew what her child was capable of, fornication was not a part of her.
To Chibuye finding out the liar who fed the villagers with lies was her only goal. Little did she know the enemy was closer to her than she imagined. She asked around no one gave her answers, nobody knew who took news to the elders.

One evening as she was making fire, Kanyanta the hunter passed through her compound.
"Good evening Kanyanta."
"Good evening Chibuye."
"From the bush huh?"
"Yes."
"What have you brought for us?"
"Shiiiiiiii I bring you good news."
"Good news for me? Are you sure?"
"Quietly go to the big tree leading to the forest, someone is waiting for you."
"Who is waiting for me?"
"The walls have eyes you know, hurry don't keep him waiting."
"Kanyanta just say. The suspense is really killing me"
He whispered in a low tone " That stranger is waiting for you, he really misses you."
"What!!!" Exclaimed Chibuye with Joy.
She ran a cross country race to see Muma, she couldn't believe she was finally going to see him.
When she got to the big tree, she saw no one. Could it be that Kanyanta was playing mind games with her. "But why!" she shouted. She felt the presence of someone. She turned around "show yourself you coward, I'm not afraid of you."
"Shiiiiiiii you talk too much, you want someone to hear you?"
"Muma! Its really you."
"Yes Chibuye, it's me."
"I'm glad to see you."
"So am I."
"I cannot believe this.
"Its truly me."
"How are you? What have you been eating?
"Don't worry young lady, I'm managing especially that I have seen you."
"You should have told Kanyanta, I would have brought you food, you look like you are not feeding properly."
"Look at you! Caring as always."
"You have a golden heart too."
"I want you to know I'm soon coming back for you."
"What do you mean?"
"My people will come for you."
"Your people? Since when did you have relatives?"
"Everything will come to light."
"Quit speaking in parables I'm not a psychic."
"You will find out the whole truth."
"What truth?"
"Hold your horses lady."
"If you say so but."
"No but. You have to run back to the village."
"I guess we can't risk being seeing together."
"Run back, I will watch you as you go."
"Thank you."
"I should be the one to thank you."
He gave her a necklace, he told her to show it to whosoever was to come to her village.
Chibuye ran home, Muma looked out for her making sure no one saw her. His heart bled as he saw her disappear. He couldn't wait to make her his wife. Chibuye was the best thing to happen to him, he was going to make her happy, by so doing. He was officially making his intentions known.
That night Muma went back to his village. He sat down with his father the chief.
"Father I have done my research, God has showed me my wife."
"I will speak to the advisory board to discuss the way forward."
"Thank you father."
"You are welcome son."
Chibuye was puzzled with Muma's words. Muma was said to have been a fallen soldier who lost his memory. How did he come to have a family? This only meant he recovered his memory.
Poor lady she wished her grandmother was alive to help her interpret what Muma said.
Chanda came through to ask for salt.
"Hello my friend."
"Hey you."
"You look lost in thoughts."
"I'm just tired."
"Is your mother around?"
"No. Who calls for her?"
"My mother. She is asking for salt."
"She is still at the garden weeding the vegetables but I can always give you the salt."
"I know."
"What are friends for?"
Chibuye went inside the house, she put salt for her best friend. Chanda admired the necklace she saw on Chibuye's wrapper. She couldn't hold herself to look at it, she hide it in her blouse.
"Haven't seen you this happy since that stranger disappeared."
"Let's just say God is working in mysterious ways."
"I'm sorry about the decisions the elders made regarding your situation with that stranger."
"His name is not stranger, he's Muma."
"Woooo you guys got close, to the point of telling names."
"What's wrong with him telling me his name."
"Hope you didn't tell him mine."
"He already knows yours."
"Chibuye you go round telling strangers my name. Jezz you are unbelievable."
"Come on Chanda what's so special about your name? Besides he learned of your name the day we met him. Remember the moment we argued about giving him water."
"No, I don't remember telling him my name."
"I mentioned your name so did you."
"Whatever! Enough of that lost soul."
"There is more to that guy than thy meet the eye."
That night Chibuye kept on thinking of what Muma said to her, the suspense was too much, she slept with a racing heart.
At Muma's place, his father sat down with his advisors. They discussed Muma's marriage. They suggested it be done as soon as possible. The chief sent out for people to Chibuye's village. Muma explained to them about the girl they were going to look for, he even told them about the necklace he gave her. The elders left for kwa Chipulukusa which was Chibuye's village.
When they got to the village, they went to the village headman, they explained their mission. Moments later as they were discussing Chanda walked in the headman's compound to bring the watermelon her father sent for the headman. The elders saw the necklace on her neck, they were amused. They knew the assignment was done considering the way Chanda carried herself in the elders presence .
They told her to go back to her family and tell them the chief's son was coming to marry her.
Chanda was shocked, she couldn't believe her luck. She ran back to her folks to tell them about the good news.
