Relationship Advise : Did I made the right decision ?

I'm 26 years old and I'm dating a girl of 23 years( a final year student of the same university) I just graduated awaiting NYSC and we are both not from a rich home especially her. The problem now is a very rich guy of 30 years old wants to marry her and I guess he likes her and he's talking about them getting engage this March, she doesn't want to marry cuz of me despite being pressured by her family members cuz a husband is hard to come by especially a rich one, the truth is I barely have enough to take care of myself and she was even the one that gave me 2k yesterday. She told me she will wait for I know she really loves me and I love her too but the problem is I don't know when I will be financially stable to give her the life she deserves and marry her she's assuring me she will wait and I know she can. I don't want to disappoint her and also makes her suffer and make her family members despise her cuz they are already. So yesterday she put me on the spot and ask me " if she should wait for me or marry the rich guy"? I was really confused and I asked her to marry the rich because he's in a better situation to care for her since he's very rich, she left my place crying.

Please I'm I wrong for asking her to marry the guy?
